About Affordable Air Inc.

Central AC Repair Company in Kirtland Afb, NM Near Me

Central AC repair in New Mexico deals with dry heat and high altitude. Albuquerque and Santa Fe homes historically used evaporative coolers, and many have switched to refrigerated central air over the years. Dry air means light condensate loads, but blowing dust and spring wind clog condenser coils fast. Our crew cleans coils, tests capacitors and fan motors, and handles systems added to older adobe and stucco homes where ductwork was an afterthought.

Why call us for central AC repair

Why Kirtland Afb, NM Homeowners Call Us for Central AC Repair

New Mexico homeowners call us for central AC repair because refrigerated air in dry, dusty conditions needs regular coil care. New Mexico is in the Southwest efficiency region, with SEER2 and EER2 minimums for new systems. A lot of homes here switched from swamp coolers to central air using ductwork built for the cooler, which can starve the new system of airflow. Our crew cleans coils, tests capacitors and fan motors and checks airflow on those conversions.

Test before replace

We read capacitor values, winding resistance and amp draw before we call any part bad. A lot of dead compressors in Kirtland Afb, NM turn out to be a much cheaper part.

Parts on the truck

Capacitors, contactors, fan motors, fuses and float switches ride with our crew, so many central AC repair calls finish on the first visit.

Price before work

You get the repair price before we start. Nothing gets done without your say.

Honest repair or replace

On an older R-22 system we show you the repair cost next to the replacement cost and let you choose.

Leaks fixed, not topped off

We find the leak, repair it, pull a vacuum to 500 microns and weigh in the charge to the nameplate.

Spring AC tune up

An AC tune up covers coil cleaning, electrical tests and drain service so July stays quiet in Kirtland Afb, NM.

How a repair call works

Four steps to central AC repair in Kirtland Afb, NM

01

Call and describe it

Tell us what the system is doing: warm air, no power, ice on the lines, water in the pan. That narrows the list before our crew arrives in Kirtland Afb, NM.

02

We measure first

Our crew reads temperature split, refrigerant pressures, capacitor values and amp draw, so the diagnosis rests on numbers and not a guess.

03

Price before work

You get the repair price before we start. If a part costs more than the system is worth, we say so.

04

Test and walk through

After the repair we run the system, check the split again and show you what we found and what we fixed.

Central Ac Repair Kirtland Afb, NM FAQs

Central AC Repair FAQs

Common questions about central AC repair

Questions Kirtland Afb, NM homeowners ask about central AC repair, with plain answers.

Talk to our crew
How much does central AC repair cost?
It depends on the part. A capacitor or contactor is a small repair. A refrigerant leak or a compressor is a much bigger one. We diagnose first, then give you the price before any work starts, so you decide with the number in front of you.
Is it worth repairing an older R-22 system?
Sometimes. R-22 has not been produced or imported in the US since 2020, so any recharge uses reclaimed refrigerant at a high price. A small electrical repair on an R-22 unit can still make sense. A major leak or a failed compressor on one usually does not. We'll give you both numbers.
Why does my AC keep tripping the breaker?
Common causes are a compressor struggling to start because of a weak capacitor, a shorted fan motor, a compressor with a winding shorted to ground, or loose and overheated wiring. Resetting the breaker over and over can make it worse. Leave it off and call us.
What should I do before the technician arrives?
Check that the thermostat is set to COOL and below room temperature, check the breaker and the outdoor disconnect, and look at the filter. If there is ice, turn cooling off and run the fan. If there is a burning smell, shut the breaker off and leave it off.
Do you work on heat pumps and furnaces too?
Our focus is central air conditioning: split systems and packaged units, the outdoor condenser and the indoor coil and air handler. Call (866) 703-1217 and tell us what you have, and we'll let you know if it is a job for our crew.
